BABY THE ICONIC MAID has slowly but surely won many hearts. Whether it is a fellow fraternity member, or an employer, or maybe somebody who is a complete hands-on homemaker and has never had any experience with a maid or domestic help. What is it about Baby that wins everyone over? Well, firstly, Baby is an adorable mischief monger! Even though she lies, she is lazy, she is a shirker, she does have this unmissable goodness in her that one cannot but appreciate. She tends to mingle and become a part of the family that she works at. Like Shukla ji! Remember him? He always comes in references. Baby loves to share anecdotes about her escapades in his house. While Baby mingles so much, little does she mention about what goes on in her own family, though we’d love to know. Right?
Hence, we decided to see what lies beneath that cheerful outer countenance of Baby’s, or Bibhooti’s. Before I tell you more about her, let me tell you that it was no mean feat to dig deeper into Baby’s life story. Co-Founder and my life partner Mohit Hussein and I wanted to tell her story, but frankly had little idea about the other side. We decided to delve in head first! We asked numerous questions to the domestic workers that we met. Sometimes the ones who we know, but also the ones who we don’t know from Adam :p . While this was a fun activity to do, this only told us that most stories are the same. And what SIT excels at telling the regular stories in such a fun way that it feels like something that happens in everyone’s life, right?
Yes, but this time we decided to completely break away from the stereotype. We thought, “let’s tell a story that nobody would expect”. And why not! Baby is a maid that is so colourful, that her backstory needed to be a painted canvas too!
